The Administration Department is responsible for the overall operation of the City of Conroe. The city administrator who has been appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council manages the day-to-day affairs of the city.


The Communications Department is dedicated to sharing the narratives of the City of Conroe - Government, and ensuring residents are well-informed about city policies, programs, services, and events. Communications manages the City's website, PEG Channel, Social Media sites, Public Relations and Public Information Office.

Conroe Industrial Development Corporation (CIDC)
The Conroe Industrial Development Corporation (CIDC) is a Type B non-profit development corporation operating under Texas Local Government Code Chapters 501, 502 and 505. The corporation is operated under the supervision of the Conroe City Council and acts to promote economic development in the City of Conroe. Revenue from a one-half cent sales tax levied by the City for the benefit of the corporation provides incentive funding to attract new and expanded business in the City and has also funded the development of the CIDC owned Conroe Park North Industrial Park. More recently the CIDC has undertaken a project to develop the R. A. "Mickey" Deison Technology Park on 250 acres adjacent to the Lone Star Executive Airport.

Conroe is the perfect blend of starry nights and city lights. And being the fastest-growing city in Texas, Conroe has so much to offer. Conroe is bordered by 22,000-acre Lake Conroe, Sam Houston National Forest, and W. Goodrich Jones State Forest, making for a veritable utopia for the outdoor lover in us all. 

Aside from the outdoors, Conroe has a bustling downtown with breweries, theatres and plenty of shopping. There is also plenty of live music, which has earned Conroe the designation of Music Friendly Community by the state of Texas. Conroe Tower
The Conroe Tower is a 58,000 + square foot office center located in the heart of downtown Conroe.  The City occupies just over 40,000 square feet of space in the building. Almost all of the administrative offices are in the building and most city business is conducted there.  The remainder of the space is leased as professional office suites and the Top of the Tower is a meeting room/banquet facility located on the sixth floor. 

The Engineering Department performs a variety of technical engineering work to ensure that public and private infrastructure is analyzed, designed, constructed and inspected in accordance with City Codes, policies, standards and regulations. The Division administers the City's Floodplain Management Ordinances and serves as the City's Floodplain Administrator.

Finance & Administration
Under the direction of Collin Boothe, Assistant City Administrator/Chief Financial Officer, the Finance and Administration Department provides leadership and support for resolving all financial matters of the City. The department provides internal management and supervision for the following divisions: General Finance, Accounting, Utility Billing, Fleet Services, Warehouse-Purchasing, Information Technology, Municipal Court, Internal Audit, and The Conroe Tower.

Fire Department
Eighty-three professional firefighters and three civilian employees staff the Fire Department. The department offers service from five strategically located fire stations and the administrative offices at City Hall.

The Legal Department provides legal advice to the Mayor, Council, City Administrator and Department Heads. 

Mayor & City Council
The City of Conroe operates under a home-rule charter that was adopted by the citizens of Conroe in 1965. The charter provides for the election of a city council consisting of a mayor and five council members. The council is charged in the charter to "enact local legislation, adopt budgets, determine policies and execute the laws and administer the government of the City."  

Our City TV
Our City TV broadcasts live City Council Workshops and Meetings as well as offers innovative local Public, Educational, and Governmental programming online and on Suddenlink Cable channel 12.  

Parks & Recreation
The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for a wide range of services designed to enhance the quality of life in Conroe.  Examples include the operation and maintenance of city-owned parks and facilities, preserving green space, enhancing park land, and providing recreational programs and events. 

Police Department
The Conroe Police Department is comprised of 170 sworn officers, 46 civilian employees, and numerous civilian volunteers.  All are committed men and women dedicated to creating a safer environment and providing quality service to the 94,000 plus citizens of Conroe, the thousands of visitors to our city and the approximately 77.5 square miles of city we serve.  The responsibilities of the Police Department demand funding of approximately $27.2 million.

Public Works
The Public Works Department has the massive responsibility of maintaining the City's physical assets including streets, sidewalks, water system, sewer system, drainage facilities and municipally owned buildings.  Public Works also oversees the City's Community Development, including Permitting, Engineering, Planning, Platting, Code Enforcement and Capital Projects. 

Conroe Connection is a service of the City of Conroe. The City of Conroe Transit Department was formed in 2013 to meet the transit and mobility needs of all Conroe residents. We manage the bus services and work on other projects to improve mobility within Conroe. The City of Conroe will launch its first project, Conroe Connection, in January 2015 to connect people with jobs, services, and shopping along Frazier Street at Loop 336 and in the Dugan area.
