The Public Works Administration and Maintenance Department has the massive responsibility of maintaining the city's physical assets: streets, sidewalks, water system, sewer system, drainage facilities, traffic signals and municipally owned building. The public works staff oversees the city's water production and monitors the water quality. It also operates a treatment plant that converts raw sewage into a clean effluent before discharging it into the San Jacinto River. The Public Works Department is made up of several smaller departments for a total of one hundred ten employees.

The City of Conroe Public Works Department provides 24-hour response to requests for Public Works related emergency services. To report an emergency such as traffic hazards, water leak or sewer stoppages call the Public Works Department at (936) 522-3885. Don't assume your neighbor will make the call for emergencies. To report emergencies after normal working hours or on weekends, call (936) 522-3885 to reach the after hours dispatch, which will contact the appropriate Public Works personnel. When reporting an emergency, please provide your name, address, phone number and a brief explanation of the emergency.
