2009 International Fire Code Adoption

The City of Conroe has adopted the 2009 International Fire Code (IFC).  Effective January 1, 2013, all plan submittals are required to meet the requirements of the 2009 IFC.  Ordinance Sec. 30-61, which adopted the 2009 IFC, is available online, or upon request in our office.

Commonly Referenced Codes

The Conroe Fire Department does not review plans for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act or the Texas Accessibility Standards.  We do, however, review plans, and perform inspections, in accordance with locally adopted codes.  The City of Conroe has adopted the 2009 International Fire Code (IFC).

Section 102.7.3 of the 2009 IFC references the following NFPA standard versions:

  • NFPA 13, 2007 Edition
  • NFPA 13R, 2007 Edition
  • NFPA 14, 2007 Edition
  • NFPA 24, 2007 Edition
  • NFPA 25, 2008 Edition
  • NFPA 30, 2008 Edition
  • NFPA 72, 2007 Edition

The Conroe Fire Department will allow the use of newer editions, so long as the applicable requirements are as, or more, stringent than the referenced edition.
