City of Conroe Parks and Recreation Department Re-Opening

The City of Conroe Parks and Recreation Department will be re-opening the administrative office and center offices on Monday, May 11. 

Park walking trails, disc golf courses, dog parks, tennis courts, and pavilions (following Governor’s guidelines for number gathered and social distancing) are open.  Other amenities are closed and reservations suspended until further guidance is received from the Governor.  For more information call 936-522-3842. 

The Aquatic Center resumes operation on Monday, May 11, at 7:00 a.m. Space is limited per the guidance of the Governor. Lap swim is 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 7:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Lap swim is limited to one hour per swimmer and one swimmer per lane. Water exercise classes will be offered weekday afternoons for a maximum of twenty participants each session. Members can call 936-522-3930 one day ahead to reserve a space for lap swim or water exercise. Drop-ins are welcome if space is available. Memberships will be extended due to closure. New memberships or day passes will not be available during May. Locker rooms and showers are not available at this time. 

The C.K. Ray Recreation Center resumes operation Monday, May 18, at 7:00 a.m.  Hours during May will be Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Space is limited per the guidance of the Governor. The fitness center can accommodate up to eight people per one hour maximum. Fitness classes will be offered based on availability of instructors and will have maximum participation limits. Pickleball is available Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to Noon, and 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays, with a maximum of sixteen participants per session. Open gym will be Monday-Friday 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., maximum four, no pickup games. Members can call 936-522-3900 one day ahead to reserve a space in the fitness center, pickleball, and fitness classes. Drop-ins are welcome if space is available. The Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center is accepting registration for Camp Fun Quest and Totally Teen Program day camps. It is anticipated camps will start June 1 pending the guidance of the Governor. Online registration is preferred at this time at www.cityofconroe.org or call 936-522-3960 for more information. 

The new Conroe Waterpark is scheduled to open June 2 pending completion. The park hours will be Tuesday-Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  The Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center pool hours will be June 1-August 8, Noon to 6:00 p.m. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Park splash pad hours will be June 1-October 31, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Call 936-522-3930 for more information. 

The Senior Center is closed. Tentative re-opening is scheduled for July 6 pending the direction of the Governor. The phone number is 936-522-3950.
