TRAINING

In 1994, with the cooperation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Conroe Police Department constructed a state-of-the-art firearms training facility. This 16-acre facility features a 40 person pistol firing range, 200 yard rifle range, Simunitions building, live fire house, 50 foot rappelling tower (for use by Conroe Police Department, FBI, and the Conroe Fire Department) two classrooms, offices, and a 6 person pistol range.

The firearms training facility and its assigned employees arrange in-service training for Houston area FBI agents, Conroe Police Department Officers, Conroe Fire Department Fire Marshals, both the FBI and Conroe Police SWAT Teams, and a host of other local law enforcement agencies. All are taught the most current and innovative methods in areas of tactics, firearms, street survival, and law.

With multiple training areas and the many different individual needs of different agencies, the facility is indispensable with regards to training. Separate training can be conducted by multiple agencies at the same time. The firearms training facility has hosted schools for many local area law enforcement officers in addition to Federal Agents from the DEA, Customs, Secret Service, Immigration and Naturalization Service, and EPA. Both the Conroe Police Department and the FBI conduct regular ongoing scheduled training at the facility for their officers and agents.
