Public Works Administration & Maintenance
The Public Works Administration and Maintenance Department has the massive responsibility of maintaining the city's physical assets: streets, sidewalks, water system, sewer system, drainage facilities, traffic signals and municipally owned building. The public works staff oversees the city's water production and monitors the water quality. It also operates a treatment plant that converts raw sewage into a clean effluent before discharging it into the San Jacinto River. The Public Works Department is made up of several smaller departments for a total of one hundred ten employees.

The City of Conroe Public Works Department provides 24-hour response to requests for Public Works related emergency services. To report an emergency such as traffic hazards, water leak or sewer stoppages during office hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) call the Public Works Department at (936) 522-3885. Don't assume your neighbor will make the call for emergencies. The Public Works Department would rather receive multiple reports about a suspected problem than no calls at all. To report emergencies after normal working hours or on weekends, call (936) 522-3828 to reach the answering service, which will contact the appropriate Public Works personnel. When reporting an emergency, please provide your name, address, phone number and a brief explanation of the emergency.
