The City of Conroe contracts with Republic Services to collect residential and small commercial garbage. Republic provides a 96 gallon polycart with wheels to each residence in the city limits. The can is collected twice per week with the collection days varying by location. On your trash day, simply move the cart to the street. Collection times range between 7am to 6pm. Republic uses an automated system to lift the cart, dump the contents in the truck, then set the cart back on the ground. Please move your cart back off of the street after the trash has been collected. All household garbage must be bagged and placed in polycart. Polycarts are for household garbage only. If you have some trash that does not fit in your cart, Republic Services will pick up bagged trash that is set out with the cart. The bags must be marked with a special tag that may be purchased at the City of Conroe Utility Billing Department in city hall. The tags cost $0.68 plus tax. If you regularly generate more trash than will fit in one cart, you may request an additional cart, for an extra monthly fee, by calling the department at (936) 522-3170. Green waste (leaves, pine needles, grass clippings, etc.) will be picked up on your regular trash day. If they will not fit in the cart, they can be bagged and tagged with the tags purchased at city hall. Republic Services will also collect heavy trash that is too large to fit into your cart. Heavy trash includes old appliances, furniture, junk, tree limbs, etc.. Please note these special requirements:
Heavy trash will be collected on the first and third Wednesday of the month for the area north of Highway 105 and on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month for anyone south of Highway 105. Republic will also schedule a pick up if you have a more immediate need. Call them at 756-8400 to give your name, address and a description of the trash to be removed. They will pick up that trash within two days of your request. Republic Services operates a drop-off site for bulky waste and recyclable products. The site is located at 2501 N.
