JOB SUMMARY AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES:  

Field work with limited public contact consisting of reading water meters and recording information.  Work involves responsibility for locating, identifying defects, and recording water meter readings for assigned routes.  Requires some public contact in responding to customer inquires and complaints in the field.  Ability to withstand outdoor working conditions, walking for long periods of time, stooping, kneeling, and bending.  Work is carried out under established procedures and under the supervision of the supervisor. Attendance is an essential job function.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must be capable of safely driving and operating a pickup truck. Must be able to carry and load equipment weighing up to 50 pounds a distance of 5 to 10 feet and placing in truck bed.
• Must have strength in hands to use a wrench or shovel with ability to hold and tighten meter at same time.
• Ability to lift, stoop, bend and carry.
• Knowledge of weed eater operation and the use of heavy tools.
• Must be able to respond to on-call within 15 minutes.
• Must have the capability to communicate clearly and effectively via two-way radio and cellular phone.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to withstand outdoor working conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds infrequently and 25 pounds frequently.
• Ability to write legibly, communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
