This position performs various duties including driving dump trucks, operating small equipment as well as making small repairs and daily maintenance to trucks and equipment used. Other duties include labor to conduct various types of construction projects related to drainage construction and / or street maintenance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must be capable of operating various types of equipment and trucks.
• Must be capable of conducting routine maintenance to various equipment and trucks.
• Must be capable of reading, writing and speaking in English.
• Must be able to communicate using a 2- way radio.
• Must be capable of obtaining various types of certifications / license as necessary to do projects / work assignments that may be required.
• Ability to work extended hours and on call duty roster for emergencies.
• Ability to understand and follow the City of Conroe / Departmental policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of street, highway and drainage construction.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Must be capable of performing labor task as required to complete work assignments.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years experience in construction and / or repair of streets, drainage, highways and the operation of light equipment and trucks.
• Minimum three years experience in underground utilities and construction.

REQUIRED:

• Valid Texas Class "B" Commercial Drivers License.
• Must lift weights of one hundred pounds.
