Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer technology that combines geographic data and other types of tabular information to generate visual maps and reports.  The City of Conroe, Texas has been investing in development of a GIS since 1998.  Today the City's GIS is growing from an agency tool to an enterprise solution, providing over 50 data layers to various users performing different City functions. This enterprise information is utilized in support of local decisions and policymaking.

Annexations Map represents each annexation, showing the growth of the City's jurisdictional boundary.

De facto Areas Map represents areas not located within a platted manufactured home subdivision but which has been substantially occupied with manufactured housing and which has been designated by the city council as suitable for the installation of additional manufactured homes.

Survey Benchmarks & Datum

In 1999 the City installed a survey control network to ensure that a consistent horizontal and vertical datum is used by all.  This control network, developed by Clark-Geogram, Inc. Land Surveyors, is based upon seven (7) existing control points, nineteen (19) National Geodetic Survey (NGS) benchmarks, and twenty-four (24) new monument pairs.  "Now available online, click link above"
