COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER-PART TIME
SALARY: $13.57 hr. - $16.98 hr.
Application period: Continual posting hired as needed

JOB SUMMARY AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Communications Officers shall be responsible for the operation of the communication center. These duties include but not limited to receiving and transmitting messages via radio, telephone and teletype; receiving emergency calls for service and dispatching calls for service. Multi-tasking skills are a necessity and applicants must have effective verbal communications skills. This position is in an emergency operations environment and applicants are required to work shift work.  Applicants must be flexible in their ability to work different shifts and to respond to work on short notice when emergency situations arise.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS MUST:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Pass a rigorous background investigation.
  • Pass a doctors physical examination including hearing and drug test.
  • Pass a written general knowledge and spelling exam approved by the department.
  • Pass a typing skills exam approved by the department.
  • Pass an oral review board.
  • Must be able to work shift-work hours.
