Longevity

After one year of service, all full time employees will receive $4.00 on the last pay period of each month for each year of service up to a maximum of 25 years.

Workers' Compensation Insurance

Should any employee be injured on the job, he/she should report the injury immediately to his supervisor.  The City is covered by workers' comp insurance to cover medical expenses and partially replace income until the injured worker is available to return to work.

Educational Assistance Program

Provides reimbursement to employee for specified expenses related to completion of classes at accredited institutions, including traditional universities, distance learning, and correspondence courses or technical schools. The City shall reimburse the employee (50%) of the cost of the tuition, lab fees, books and other mandatory fees. Refer to Chapter 9.32 of Personnel Rules.

Tenure Awards 

Each month, service pins and plaques are awarded to employees who have completed 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years of service with the City of Conroe.

Perfect Attendance Program

As an incentive to encourage safe work habits, punctuality, and good health care, the City will reward an employee with up to 3 days additional vacation time. With no lost time in a calendar year due to sick leave or tardiness, you earn 3 days. One day absent, you may earn 2 days, and two days absent and you earn 1 day. Three or more absences or tardiness and you would not qualify.

15% Sick Leave

Employees with at least 8 years of service and sick leave balances of 90 days or more are eligible for a payment of 15% of your hourly rate for each hour over 90 days. Payment is limited to the maximum amount of hours accrued for each fiscal year. Payment is made on the first payroll in December.

Uniforms

Employees are furnished with uniforms if required to wear uniforms in the position for which they were hired. Employees will receive their uniform according to each departmental policy.

Vehicle

Department heads are assigned city vehicles or a car allowance to complete their job responsibilities.  Gas expenses and maintenance for assigned vehicles are provided by the City.

Incentive Pay

Full time employees in the Fire & Police departments will be eligible for incentive pay after satisfactory completion of the requirements for intermediate & advanced certifications and associates & Bachelors degrees.   Also, certain Public Works employees will qualify for incentive pay for specific licensures.

Tomorrow's  College  Fund

Tomorrow's College Investment Plan - This payroll deduction City sponsored program helps families save money for soaring college expenses for your children or grandchildren.

US Savings Bonds

The City of Conroe allows for an election to purchase US Savings Bonds through payroll deduction. Bonds can be purchased for the cost of $50.00 for a $100 bond. Series EE bonds earn interest for 30 years. This is an after tax purchase that you can save for things such as retirement or education.

Parks & Recreation

Full-time and part-time employees and their families, are eligible to use the Recreation Center and the Swim Center free of charge and are eligible for a 25% discount on programs and facility rentals.

Employee Club

The Employee Club is a voluntary organization of City employees. Activities include summer picnics, Christmas parties, and other events planned by the members. Employees wishing to join pay a small membership fee.

Flexible Spending Account

With a flexible spending account, you can set aside a portion of each paycheck for medical expenses on a pre-tax basis.

Dependent Day Care Expenses

Under the flexible spending account, you can set aside a portion of each paycheck for dependent day care expenses on a pre-tax basis for dependent children under the age of 13 who qualify as tax dependents and anyone claimed as a tax dependent because of physical or mental inability to care for himself/herself.
