Don’t forget to check out Fresh Fridays at OJ-Marching into Decades! Children ages 6-13 can join us at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center (100 Park Pl) on March 9 from 7-11pm for fun with interactive staff and organized activities. Parents can enjoy an evening out while we provide a secure and fun environment for the kids! Participants are encouraged to dress up representing their favorite decade. Cost is only $6 for residents and $8 for nonresidents. With limited space available, it is highly recommended to preregister by March 8. If space is available the day of the event, cash only will be accepted at the door.

Are you ready for March Pickleball Madness? The C.K. Ray Recreation Center will be hosting a Co-ed doubles Pickleball tournament on Saturday, March 10. One of the fastest growing sports in the country, Pickleball can be played by all ages and skill levels. This tournament will be held in the C.K. Ray Recreation Center gymnasium beginning at 8am. Young Rembrandts spring break camp will be offered March 12-15 from 9am-12pm for children ages 7-12. Children will be drawing characters from under the sea, sharks, jelly fish, octopus and others!  The registration fee is $160 for City of Conroe residents and $200 for non-residents. Registration has begun for Camp Fun Quest Spring Break Camp. This kid-approved and jam-packed adventure for 1st-6th graders takes place at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center the week of CISD Spring Break under the close supervision of trained Fun Quest Staff (10:1 camper/ staff ratio). Program operates from 7am- 6:30pm. Space is limited, so register early! Registration at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center (100 Park Pl.) American Red Cross Lifeguard Training courses are being offered by the City of Conroe Aquatic Center. Tired of having two left feet? Conroe Parks and Recreation offers adult dance lessons for singles or couples, ages 18 and up. Dance styles include Country Western, Swing, and Ballroom. The per person cost is $45 for Conroe residents and $56 for non-residents. Registration for the next session runs through March 13th. Session begins Sunday March 18th and runs through April 29th. Register now for gymnastics classes at the C.K. Ray Recreation Center. Gymnastics classes are fun and a great way to improve a child’s coordination, flexibility, and strength. Beginner classes are offered for as young as three years old through advanced classes for 10 and up.  Classes are offered on a variety of days and times. Is your Baby Sitter a “Safe Sitter”? Teens can learn the knowledge and skills they need to be a prepared babysitter.  Safe Sitter classes are offered at the C.K. Ray Recreation Center for youth 11 and older. The next class is Saturday, March 24 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. The cost is $25 for City of Conroe residents and $31 for non-residents. Register now for Karate classes at the C.K. Ray Recreation Center. With the availability of multiple class offerings, you can choose the class and times that work best for you. American Society of Karate is held on Monday evenings at the Conroe Activity Center and teaches the art, sport, and self-defense aspects of American karate. Karate Academy is held at the Conroe Activity Center on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and is based on the traditional Japanese discipline of Karate. Be a part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Family Outdoor Camping Program for an overnight camping experience. We provide the gear and activities. You provide your family and food for the two days. Cost is $30 per family and includes gear and park entry. Register your family March 5 to April 13 at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center. Unplug and let the outdoors bring your family together. The City of Conroe has availability at one of the best and most affordable after school programs in the area. We provide a fun, safe, and supervised place for kids after school at nine convenient locations. Trained and caring staff will deliver a snack, homework assistance and recreational activities to 6:30pm, or until parent’s pickup. Sites include Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center (OJJCC), Anderson, Armstrong, Austin, Bozman, Patterson, Reaves, Runyan, Sam Houston and Wilkinson. Transportation is provided to OJJCC from Cryar, Giesinger, Rice and Travis. Financial assistance is available for qualifying families. Register now for Adult Softball with the City of Conroe Parks and Recreation Department! Our adult softball leagues are forming now for Sunday Co-Ed, Monday, Thursday, and Friday Men’s D leagues, and Tuesday Men’s Church league.  League schedules consist of a seven week season, two games per night, fourteen games total.  Games are played at Carl Barton, Jr. Park softball complex.  Cost per team is $400.  Minimum age is 18. 60+ Senior Dances

Join the fun at the 60+ Senior Dances. Couples and singles, 60 years old and up, are welcome to the weekly dances featuring bands from Country and Western to Golden Oldies. Line dances and mixers get everyone involved. Dances are held at the City of Conroe Activity Center, 1204 Candy Cane Lane (formerly Callahan Ave.). Cost is five dollars per person at the door. Dances start at 6:30pm and finish at 9:30pm. Dance dates and bands are Night Session- March 9, Jem Dandy- March 16, Glenn Lenderman- March 23.
